FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About the Group
Q1: How do I join?
A: Click "Join the Group" button at the top of the tolkien page. Membership, once submitted, will be automatically approved.
Q2: Are there any contests?
A: Yes; the group holds contests once every couple of months, with the contest submission time and the voting time running around two months total.
Q3: How does one get into the "Featured" folder?
A: Each month members can nominate up to five pieces from the gallery by sending a note to tolkien with links to the deviations in question. We will say in the blog when nominations are open and when they close. 10 to 15 deviations with the most nominations will be put in the folder at the beginning of the following month and remain there for a month.
Q4: Will tolkien be favoriting any art/accepting any favorite suggestions?
A: We do accept favorites, but only to be Critiqued! Read about Critiques below.
Q5: What are Critiques in the group?
A: Critiques are official critiques given to Tolkien-based works submitted by group members. To submit your work to be critiqued by a group critic, all you need to do is submit your work into the "Favorites" folder. You can only put your own work, and work you want to be critiqued, into Favorites. All Tolkien-based work, including those rejected by the Gallery and WiPs, are accepted.
Q6: Will members be able to advance in any way?
A: Yes. Longtime members with regular contributions of quality deviations to the club will be promoted to "Contributors". You are not required to do anything as a Contributor, but you can put deviations in the group's gallery without going through the queue like all other members. Rules as listed in the Terms still apply. People will be added in batches to the "Contributors" group once every few months.
Q7: Do you need moderators?
A: When we need moderators, we inform the group via a journal entry.

Q2: Where can I get more info on Middle-earth?
A The Encyclopedia of Arda is the biggest source on the web, so you may visit this www.glyphweb.com/arda. Also, you can use Google to find other places that can help you with your questions. For LOTR and The Hobbit-related information, The Thain's Book at www.tuckborough.net/ is also an excellent resource.
