Ok let's see - we have an image hosted on a profile that is 1 day old and asks you to visit a website with a strange url with a promise of a financial reward on an another website. How do you even imagine  that would work? And now, of course, people start crying that their computers got infected with malware. Which is great - every genius who fell for this obvious phishing scam  deserved it. I hope your shitty computer burns and you along with it.
I know this is a no-duh for 90% of people reading it but for the sake of the rest lets revise what we all should know about online phishig. And before you go all:

Bronies go nuts, and Nintendo Sucks?Equestria Girls
The trailer to "Equestria Girls" (the humanized MLP spinoff film) finally was released today. Aaaannnd everyone's freaking out. Again.
You know, it actually looks pretty decent. Bronies... please understand: I know you're a major unexpected demographic for the show. I know you enjoy seeing shout-out's become canon within the show, and appreciate how the creators do little things here and there for you. But... the show isn't made for you. This is not Cartoon Network and the target demographic isn't 25 year olds in college. You're a nice addition to the target demographic of little girls, but you are not the driving force behind MLP.
I don't want this to sound mean, but it needs to be said. This is where it becomes very important to understand the fine line between being a fan of the show and thinking that because you've invested so much energy into the show that you're entitled to things.
I'm sure the movie won't be as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It honest

Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Greetings everyone!

The Featured Deviations for October are up! Please take a look at all the wonderful deviations here.


We haven't had a contest in a while, so I think it's time to open up another! We have done "Characters from LOTR that were not in the films" and "The Ainur". We haven't done anything specific to the Hobbit or other Tolkien works yet, nor have we covered a topic that covers more than one book. Have a suggestion for anything? Please leave it here, and I'll put up a poll soon!


Due to the huge amount of non-English speakers in the club, as well as the several people who don't realize we have a folder system (grin), there is now an "Unsorted" folder for those who have no idea where to put their works. If you know where a piece should go, though, please put it in that folder and save the mods some time!


And finally, a reminder that the Favorites Folder is *not* for favorites, but works by our members that want critiques. You only submit your pieces to it, and all Tolkien-related pieces that you made make it into that critique/fave folder, regardless whether it made it into the gallery or not.

What about Númenor? That would be a great topic.

It woul be interesting as well to focus on one concrete tale or storyline from the Legendarium, i.e. A contest on Beren and Lúthien´ s story, or The Children of Húrin, The fall of Gondolin, etc...
